Scope: AYSO Open Invitational – open to AYSO and non-AYSO teams or individual EPIC players who wish to attend.
Why: To provide special-needs players the opportunity to experience a tournament environment and to meet/play with players from outside their home region.
Who: Co-ed EPIC teams or individual players wishing to participate in the following age divisions:
- Biggies, players 14 and up, 12U field,12 max on field, 8 preferred;
- Middles, players 8-13 years old, 8U field, 8 max on field, 5 preferred;
- Littles, players 4-7 years old, 5U field, 5 max on field, 3 preferred.
All EPIC players are welcome to register. For Regions with only a few players, not whole teams, players can be registered for the tournament and will be placed on an age-appropriate team. For Regions with teams wishing to participate, each player needs to be registered in the Area 2C Registration portal under their Region location and age bracket. Tournament staff will allocate the players into teams by location and age bracket, create a schedule, and email information to all registered participants.
What: Each team will be guaranteed 2 games in their respective age division. All games will be as follows: Biggies–40 mins.; Middles–30-40 mins.; Littles–20 mins.
When: Saturday, October 26 – Picnic, $10 per person and Sunday, October 27, 2024 – Soccer Games, $10 per player – no rain-out dates
Where: The picnic will be held at Baldwin Park, 2727 Parkside Circle, Concord, CA. Tickets should be ordered ahead of time using the Area2C Sports Connect Registration portal.
The tournament will be held at the Westwood/El Dorado Sport Complex, Concord Blvd. and Mendocino Drive, Concord, CA. There is no charge for parking at Concord High School across the street from the complex. No pets are allowed at fields.
Entry Fees: In an effort to make it equitable to all participants, teams are billed $10 per player, with a separate $10 fee for all wishing to attend the picnic. Tournament costs are further offset by Concord AYSO and donations from Concord Cup Tournament and Mt. Diablo Mustang. Donations are always gratefully accepted.
Awards: All players and coaches per region will receive a tournament t-shirt. EPIC players will receive a medal. Player t-shirt information will be captured in the registration process. Coaches and volunteers need to download, fill out and return the 2024 T-shirt Form. This is a fillable form which can be downloaded, filled out, saved adding team name, and then returned via email to [email protected]
Referees: No referee fees will be charged to the teams. Referees from AYSO Area 2C will be asked to officiate the games, although referees from other regions may apply by submitting a Referee Form. For more information, see Referee Plan
Rules: Tournament Rules
How: Registration is being done via the Area 2C Sports Connect Registration Portal. All players need to individually register for the tournament just like registering for participation in a Core-Epic program on their Region/Area website. Please be sure to use the exact same Sports Connect ID used for Region/Area registration – this will ensure the $27.50 National Annual Player fee will not be billed. For players not using Sports Connect for Core-Epic registration, an account will need to be created and the National Annual Player fee will be added to the registration costs.
Acceptance: Registration deadline is October 1. All teams will be notified within 48 hrs. of the application deadline or receipt of application (whichever is latest) as to their status.
